Having Wii is Like a Snowball

Yep, I picked up the Wii. Then, last night we went to Best Buy and got all the extra goodies and a couple games to go with the Wii. This Wii is like a snowball rolling down a hill, turning into a bigger and bigger investment. But, it is so much fun.

We have Wii!!!

I spontaneously bought a Wii today. We've been planning to buy one in October with my bonus money. But, Tony didn't tell me they are hard to find and there was going to shortages the closer you get to Christmas. This conversation took place on our way to my girlfriend's house, who announced she got tired of looking for one and paid extra on ebay to get one.

So, here I was grocery shopping in Super Target and on a whim I thought I would check out the game aisle. Lo and behold, 9 Wii's sat. I called Tony and his response was, "Its up to you sweetie". Then, a helpful salesgirl walks by and I ask her opinion. She's like, "Its up to you." Dang, just someone say buy it. So, I told myself. I was going to wait till October, but geesh there that sat. And I've been so good not spending money lately and its just sitting there in the savings account. So, I bought one.

I can't wait till Tony gets home from work tonight to hook it up!!!

Good Morning!!

Not much to say. Just wanted to say Good Morning.

We went jetskiing yesterday. Tony got a new toy - a GPS, so we had to play with it. Got to love new toys.

I have pics from the weekend, just haven't gotten them out of my camera.

Life just seems to be coasting along.

We ate one of our pineapples yesterday. It was yummy.

Rebecca's cousin returns on Wednesday. That's a good thing. She's been gone too long. Rebecca misses her.

Ok, well, good morning. Catch up with ya later.

$425.00!!!

$425.00!!!! That is the cost of sanity!! $425.00!!! That is the breaking point were my 21 year old will finally realize that he is so irresponsible!!! I think not. I can hope. But, honestly, I'm not sure what it will take to wake him up.

You see, he ran into a mailbox. Instead of calling me for advice, he immediately called the insurance company. Arranged to fix a little scratch at the tune of a $425.00 deductible. Ok, fine, he handled it. Personally, I would have told him to repair a scratch on his own. But, then he has rental insurance. Did he get himself a little economy car to get around till the truck was fixed? NO!!!! He took his car insurance money and rented a brand new mustang!!!!! Did he realize that a $425.00 deductible would hold his truck hostage until its paid? NO!!!! He thinks there's this treasure chest buried in the backyard for his ease of comfort.

Life is changing as we know it for a certain 21 year old. He's in hock and his spending is out of control. Terms of living in our house have changed. I think he finally realizes the errors of his way, at a big cost. I now have the task of teaching him fiscal responsibility. It is so time for him to get on with his life.

Life on the Plantation :)

We worked our butts off in the yard this Sunday. Tony is a great mower and weed whacker, but clueless on how to maintain plants, bushes and trees. So, I got out there is my handy pruners and started working magic on our landscaping. Let me tell you, cutting back sago palms is not for the faint at heart. My poor arms are polka dotted with stab marks from the palm fronds. Our yard looks so good today. I turned our oak bush into a tree too :)

Rebecca and I started a little project. I was reading on a board I frequented about growing pumpkins. How easy it was. So, we dug up a 3X3 plot of dirt, bought a packet of seeds and followed the instructions. Maybe we'll have some pumpkins by Halloween. I got seed for the minature pumpkins. From the thread I read, pumpkins get really thick vines and take over the areas. So, I'm hoping the minature pumpkins will produce minature vines. At this point, I would be happy if they just grow. This is a new thing to me.

My pineapples are still hanging in there. Just waiting for them to ripen. I've picked on already and have two more on the plant.

Citrus doesn't come in till after December, but its looking to be a really fruitful year.

My Birthday Boy

He must have had a wild time on his 21st Birthday. We took him to dinner and then he disappeared with his friends. But, I did find him this morning at 2:48 rolling all over my front porch steps. Later in the morning, like at 4:50, I went to let the dogs out and discovered that the screen porch door was left wide open and he apparently was disoriented and took down the kennel fencing for the dogs. Needless to say, our black dog is still missing. So, I turned on the flood lights for the yard and found his shoes, keys and other assorted items spread across the lawn. See what you Moms have to look forward too in another few years!!! I'm sure he's not feeling so hot today.

The difference in 3 year old, then and now. I don't think kids are any different. I think environment has changed; new products, new ways of thinking. I think personalities and interests are different, so its hard to compare kids. The only distinct different that I can really remember is that David knew how to swim at the age and Rebecca doesn't. I really need to work on it.

Here's to a good night sleep and a little black dog coming home.

Little Updates

Weighty Issues - I'm down 29.2 lbs. Yay me!! Seems like towards the end it just takes forever to lose. I have about 15 more I'd like to lose.

Tony gone - Boy, I'm missing him. He'll be home tommorrow. Rebecca is missing him too. Her favorite cousin and her daddy both gone are really making her sad.

This heat is ridiculous. When I was driving home, the tempature near out home said 99 degrees. Yikes!!! I found this new park near our house and stopped before we went home. We lasted maybe 15 minutes tops. Too hot. I ended up taking Rebecca to Chick-Fil-A for dinner and play in the air conditioned playground. She befriended a little girl and played for an hour. Her going to bed was so easy last night.

My baby is going to be 21 tommorrow. I'm going to make him a cheesecake for his birthday tonight. Time just flies too fast.

Well, it won't let me put a title in . . . So, its called "My Shopping Bargains"

What's a girl to do when her hubby up and leaves town for a few days? What else, go shopping. Bargains abound.

My Mother and I spend the day shopping yesterday at the outlet mall. We are such good shopping buddies. I learned from the best. Carter's had p.j.'s for 5.99. The Children's Place Outlet has 50% off of all clearance. I got a bathing suit for next year for 3.50 and shorts for 3.00. Its hard to find the larger sizes in there though. I did score a new denim sundress for 7.00. Next stop was the Gap Outlet. I shopped for me. I got 4 shirts for under 20.00. Not too shabby.

Today, I did my usual Target stop. Mondays is when my Target does their mark down. The Circo shirts and shorts on clearance are .98 cents. Yep, you heard that right, .98 cents. The July 4th shirts are 75% off, so 5.00 shirts are 1.25!!! I got Rebecca some for next year.

I feel pretty safe buying summer stuff ahead. Heck, I live in Florida in can be pretty much warm all year round. So, I know I will get use out of it.

My one non-bargain purchase, a new dvd. See, Tony wasn't happy with a new purchase that he made at Best Buy. Cool, little trick of his before going out of town is to stack up a pile of errands for me to do in my spare time. Yeah, right. Anyways the trip to Best Buy cost him a chick flick. I got "Music and Lyrics". Typical chick flick. I love Drew Barrymore in movies. Made me laugh, made me cry.

Yep, that's what a girl does when she's left to her own devices. Plans for the rest of the week, more errands and shopping with my Mother-in-Law. This turning into quite a nice girls week for me.

Assigned a Task

I've been assigned a task. My Mother wants me to spread my brother's ashes when we go to Key West. I thought I would be ok with this when I made the offer. But, now when asked, I feel sad. It will be done and I'm sure he'll be happy to be back to the one place I know he really loved.

We also discussed my brother, Mark. Basically, we just both acknowledged that I would be the one to look over my brother, if something every happens to my parents. He does ok, just gets a little lost sometimes.

I always feel like the matriarch of our family. The tie that binds. Just discussing it makes it seem more so. I just don't know how I as the youngest, ended up with all the responsibilities of keeping the family on track.

Scenes From the 4th!!

Thursday, July 05, 2007

The 4th Was A Bust . . . .

We had great plans for the 4th. But, little did we know a virus was lurking about. We headed out with the jetski's to one of our favorite lakes to meet up with some friends and my brother and his family. Tony told me he wasn't feeling well. By noon, it had turned into a full blown virus. It sucks to get violently sick. He's been in bed asleep since 2:00 p.m. yesterday. I hope he feels better today.

Later in the afternoon, I took Rebecca back to my brother's for a cookout. I didn't stay for the fireworks. Driving home in the dark after a long day is not one of my favorite things to do. So, I think if Tony is feeling better on Saturday, we're going to do a redo of the 4th.

I have some pics of the morning, but with hubby under the weather, I don't know when they will get offloaded from my camera.

Is it really Thursday. I feel like this has been the neverending week.

Lots of Little Things

Nothing momentous to dedicate a whole blog to. Just lots of little things that have been going on. . . . . .

My baby is going to be 21 years old next week. Can you believe it? I can't. We all spent the evening together last night. Went on a family shopping trip to Sam's. Isn't funny how things just never change. He was acting just the same way he did when he was 16. I let him drive. He drove eratic just to bug me. He shadowed me through the whole store, till I gave him a 1.00 for a drink. On the erratic drive there, I was trying to read and not give attention to his bad driving. Well, he figured the bad driving wasn't working so he started drilling me with a 100 questions. But, the one great thing is he loves his little sister. Rebecca adores him. I drove home and he played in the backseat with her. She giggled so much. When we got home, he wore her out so much, just fell right to sleep in bed.

Hmmm, maybe I did have a moment to dedicate to just one blog.

I got my snorkeling gear for Key West. Its so pretty. It's a light blue. Did you know blue is my favorite color? If you know me IRL, you would soon learn that everything I aquire seems to be blue. Hard habit to break. But, I couldn't resist the blue snorkeling gear.

Rebecca has a rash on her bottom. I'm not sure whats causing it. I got it all cleared up this weekend and she came back home last night with it. Its somewhat clear this morning, so I'll have to see what it looks like tonight. If its not gone by Thursday, I'll have to take her to the doctor.

We did all the finishing touches on our Family Room. I'm so happy with this room. Its so beautiful.

Tony has the jetski's all ready to go for tommorrow. I'm looking forward to this day. I think I will get some ingredients to make homemade sangria for the cookout.

As a result of the thunderstorms all day Sunday, I cleaned out from under our master bathroom sink. OMG - I couldn't believe how my junk we accumulated. We still have a lot of stuff under there, but its organized. I also emptied the garden tub and cleaned up that area. Lately, the garden tub was being used as a storage place for pillows and comforters. I wish it was gone. I have great plans in my head on how to remodel the bathroom with a huge walk-in shower. Basically that tub it just something more for me to dust. Noone uses it.

Edited to Add - The bandaid is working. She won't suck her thumb with it on. And she will ask for one when she's awake. I still let her have her thumb at bedtime. But, big improvements to all day long.

Too all the readers out there - Hope you have a safe and Happy 4th of July!!!
